Sapphire was contracted to transform a multi-acre property in Whitefish, MT, with a focus on land development and water management. Using a Dozer, CAT 325 Excavator, and 745 Haul Truck, our team executed significant earthmoving work, including:
Grading 4 acres for a future orchard
Expanding an existing 1-acre pond to approximately 3 acres
Excavating and shaping a new 4-acre pond
Installing a new culvert system to route field drainage to the main pond
Refreshing the driveway with new base gravel
Project Challenges:
The most demanding aspect of this job was working in extremely wet conditions while more than doubling the size of the existing pond. Daily planning was critical to safely and efficiently move heavy equipment across soft, unstable ground.
Final Touches
As the heavy earthmoving wrapped up, Sapphire focused on the finishing details that brought the project together. The driveway was dressed with a fresh layer of base gravel to ensure durability and clean access. Grading was fine-tuned across all worked areas to promote proper drainage and a smooth landscape ready for future planting. The culvert installation was inspected and adjusted to optimize water flow from the fields to the newly expanded ponds. These final touches ensured the property was left clean, functional, and prepared for the next phase of development.
